Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced the second regional Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp for the Southeast Asian Games 2019. The event will be held in the Philippines on Sunday, 3 November 2019, a day before the official SEA Games Esports Test Event, at the TV5 Cignal Experience Hub in Manila.
With the debut of esports as a medal event in the 30th SEA Games a month away, Razer continues its quest to build and nurture esports athletes with a regional bootcamp for fighting game Tekken 7 – the only console game to be contested.
In August this year, the first Razer SEA Games Bootcamp was held for Dota 2 teams in Singapore. SEA Games athletes from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines were coached by Sam ‘Bulba’ Sosale from top esports team, Evil Geniuses.
Following its success, Razer has invited Kim “JDCR” Hyunjin to coach and prepare national Tekken athletes from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand for the upcoming SEA Games.
Known as one of the most successful Tekken players in the world, JDCR has been playing Tekken for over a decade and has won numerous championships, his most recent being Electric Cancel in the USA. Currently placed 4th at the Tekken World Tour standings, he is also a two-time EVO champion for one of the world’s most famous fighting game championship.
The first Razer SEA Games Esports Bootcamp for Dota 2 was a huge success and the athletes benefited tremendously from Bulba’s guidance, we hope to extend the same opportunities to athletes competing in Tekken and other games.
