The Rundown on Star Wars: The High Republic

Previously mentioned in this post. we only know of the High Republic as the setting of one of the upcoming series on Disney+, The Acolyte. However, the release of Star Wars: The High Republic this month proves us otherwise.

Set 200 years before The Phantom Menace and 800 years after the Old Republic, The High Republic is a series of novels introducing a whole new era to the Star Wars franchise. It also introduces a host of new characters who will help shed light on the golden age of the Jedi.

The Light of the Jedi

The book focuses on the Jedi responding to the biggest catastrophe of the age, the Great Hyperspace Disaster. In the event, all spacecraft traveling in hyperspace was kicked out of the lanes, wreaking havoc across galaxies and even destroying moons and planets. It also introduces the High Republic‘s main enemies, the Nihil, who also invested in hyperspace technology.

A Test of Courage

Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh is tasked with supervising twelve-year-old aspiring inventor Avon Starros on route to the new space station Starlight Beacon. However, they are sabotaged along the way and are forced to fight for their survival.

The Great Jedi Rescue

This book has the same premise as Light of the Jedi but is tailored for the younger audience.

Into the Dark

Padawan Reath Silas is on an assignment to discover a new frontier but is caught in the middle of the Great Hyperspace Disaster. He and his companions disembark on an abandoned space station to find out what happened.

The High Republic (Marvel)

In this comic published by Marvel, Padawan Keeve Trennis is also on her way to the new Starlight Beacon station when the disaster happens. She is torn between finishing her Jedi trials to become a full-fledged Jedi and helping after the incident.

This graphic novel is a joint effort of author Justina Ireland and Shima Shinya, with art from Mizuki Sakakibara. It will be released in manga format by popular publisher Viz Media.

The High Republic Show

The bi-monthly online show will feature behind the scenes of the novels with creators, artists, and authors.

It is also revealed The High Republic will be released in three phases. (Makes it a trilogy, then? We love them trilogies.)
