Confirmed: Garena Lays off Majority of It’s PH Employees

In a sudden twist of fate (had to), I just got word that Garena SG HQ has abruptly closed the Philippine office of the Game publisher effectively cutting off 95% of it’s current Philippine work force.

I’m currently trying to find out any further details for this development, especially with the closure executed a month or so ago as of this post. It’s a surprise that the were able to keep this under wraps for so long.

(10/16/2018 2:34 AM – Reports received says that the lay off happened within the a couple of weeks after Globe Conqueror’s Manila ended)

Currently, I was informed that the only remaining Garena PH team left is the finance team so this puts to question the operations side of their games. It may be that the SG team is currently handling the load left by the closure and there has been no word yet on the future of the company here in the Philippines or of their games.

(10/16/2018 2:35 AM – Garena SG has already taken steps in taking over the operations of the various channels Garena PH has for League and you can notice that with the more templated announcements and content you have been seeing being produced in the main website.)

I’ll update this post as I try to find out more.
