Acer Predator Brings in the Thronos, The Gaming Chair That Will Break Your Wallet

If you grew up loving the Gundam series, then you grew up wanting your own cockpit with panoramic monitors, foot pedals and a floating seat. Well, Acer Predator gives you a chance to have your own cockpit, delivered and assembled directly to your home. If you can spare 700k php, that is.

We were invited at the Predator Concept Store in SM North EDSA to experience this monster of a system. The Acer Predator Thronos is a gaming chair straight out of your imagination. The R&D department in Acer Predator were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should, and stop they didn’t. The Thronos is an all-in-one motorized gaming chair that takes immersion to a whole new dimension. Taking inspiration from a scorpion, the cocoon-like cabin adjusts every aspect to your liking. Fitted with 3 27” Predator Z271U monitors that gives you a panoramic view of your favorite game, it also features a native 144Hz refresh rate with NVIDIA G-SYNC technology that delivers tear-free, buttery smooth visuals. The chair is also fitted with tactile subwoofers that provides haptic feedback every time you get hit in-game or just listening to some EDM.

Of course I’d take the opportunity to seat on this myself!

Those who attended the event were able to sit down and have a go at the Predator Thronos. I, of course, didn’t let the opportunity pass me by. Sitting in the Thronos in its neutral position was just like sitting in a regular computer desk with a gaming chair.  But when I started to fiddle with the Control Pad, everything changed. When the Zero-G mechanism reclined at an angle, I felt my whole body sink and become one with the Thronos. The motorized footrest and adjustable pedal provides enough support so you’re ergonomically positioned while inclined at an angle. The entire body has configurable RGB lighting. Not that it boosts your performance, but you know, R G B.

You can configure your Thronos according to your liking, and well, your budget because the base model will eat up 699,999 php of your account. The base configuration comes with the Predator Orion 3000 and comes with all the bells and whistles you see here. You can also choose to have the Orion 5000 or 9000. All configurations are equipped with 3x Predator Z271U, a Cestus 510 mouse, an Aethon 500 mechanical keyboard and a Predator Galea 300.

You can check out the Predator Thronos at the Acer Concept Store located at the third floor of The Annex, SM City North EDSA.
