The Hunchback of Notre Dame Live-Action In the Works

For those who are on the lookout on what Disney is set to have a live-action treatment, well we’re in luck, it seems like The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the next Disney animated movie that’s getting a live-action version, and what’s more, it’s on the works with the title, Hunchback.

According to Variety, Tony Award winning playwright David Henry Hwang is attached to write the script, while Mandeville Films and Josh Gad are set to produce. Meanwhile, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz will pen the music.

Hwang worked previosuly on Aida, an Elton John and Tim Rice musical collaboration produced by Walt Disney Theatrical Productions. Josh Gad on the other hand isn’t unfamiliar with Disney properties since he not only voiced Frozen‘s Olaf, but he also portrayed the highly controversial live-action version of Gaston‘s sidekick, LeFou.

No casting news has been officially announced so maybe we can expect Josh Gad portraying the titular Hunchback perhaps?

Meanwhile, this year alone, it seems like Disney is full steam ahead with the theatrical release of the live-action versions of Dumbo, Aladdin, and The Lion King.
