NTC Rolls Out EDSA Free WiFi Project – Providing Commuters with Really Lightning Fast Internet

EDSA Commuters now have the opportunity to have lightning fast internet (faster than mine actually D:) as you slog through the EDSA traffic with the NTC Free WiFi Project.

Last July 6 to 7, the National Telecommunications Commission has tested the speed (using OOKLA) the free WiFi that averaged at 156.6 Mbps download and 135.8 Mbps upload speeds.

According to their research, the MRT station that had the fastest download speed belongs to 325.48 Mbps while the fastest upload speed belongs to Magallanes station at 310.57 Mbps.

The NTC hopes to cover the entire street level of EDSA by October this year.

Working with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on the EDSA Free Wi-Fi project are the NTC, the DOTr MRT 3, Metro Rail Transit Development Corp., Light Rail Transit Authority, Light Rail Manila Corp., Metro Manila Development Authority, Department of Public Works and Highways, Manila Electric Co., Philippine Reclamation Authority, the local government units of Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasay and Quezon City, A&A, PLDTSmart and Globe.
