Global innovation and technology leader Lenovo released today the latest ultrathin, ultralight devices in its popular IdeaPad and Yoga lines in the Philippines, designed for consumers who want to maximize power and performance for both work and play. The new ultrabooks have arrived in the Philippines immediately after being launched at one of the world’s leading trade shows for consumer electronics, IFA Berlin 2019.
The Philippines will experience firsthand the powerful productivity of the latest IdeaPad and Yoga ultrabooks, supported by portable form factors and elegant design. These devices assure a seamless experience, critical in powering through today’s digitally driven world regardless if it’s for work or play.
Said Lenovo Philippines Country General Manager Michael Ngan.
Lenovo is launching a total of 10 IdeaPad and Yoga devices in the Philippines, with several offering variants in different specifications. These include the IdeaPads S130, S145, S340, S540, and C340, and the Yogas S740, S940, C640, C740, and C940. In line with the company’s makeover of its consumer devices last year, all of the upcoming IdeaPad and Yoga devices are ultrabooks – powerful laptops that are less than 20mm thick and weigh less than 2kg. Also, by equipping the upcoming IdeaPad and Yoga ultrabooks with SSDs, Lenovo is the first and only brand to carry a 100% Modern PC Ultrabook lineup.
A key feature shared by most of the upcoming ultrabooks is powerful performance delivered by 10th Generation Intel Core Ice Lake or Comet Lake processors. According to Intel, the processor’s new architecture can handle 18% more instructions per clock than the previous generation. In addition, they can deliver 16% more performance gains and enable 41% more productivity and multitasking on Office 365 than the previous generation chips.
Aside from being faster, the 10th Generation Intel Core processors feature built-in Wi-Fi 6 support, which gives devices access to the highest speed of wireless internet and local data transfers, the ThunderBolt 3 capability, as well as the Intel Optane memory H10 with Solid State Storage, that allows personalized computing experience with a new level of performance and large storage capacity. These are also the first purpose-built processors developed for Artificial Intelligence, thus containing intelligent capabilities needed for modern AI-infused applications.
To further empower students and employees at work, Lenovo is bundling a free Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 perpetual license worth 6,995 php for the upcoming ultrabooks. This can be availed upon purchasing the premium devices such as the Yoga S940 and IdeaPad S540.
All of the upcoming IdeaPad and Yoga ultrabooks will also be equipped with solid state drives (SSDs) for faster performance, including entry-level devices that usually only have hard disk drive (HDD) storage and a slot for optional SSD. With this move, Lenovo is transforming the entry-level and budget laptop space for consumers by making the devices powerful enough to withstand the need for frequent upgrades. A majority of the laptops will have high performance SSDs that can reach up to 1TB PCIE NVMe.
Headlining the new devices are the IdeaPad S540, Yoga S740, and IdeaPad C940 — three premium ultrabooks that work and play in style with their powerful 10th Generation Intel Core processor, sleek design, and a range of smart features.
Coming to the market in different variants for its 13”, 14”, and 15” models, the IdeaPad S540 offers heavy-duty performance in addition to its premium look and feel. Users of the device are in for a visual treat due to its narrow bezels on all sides that allow 92% screen-to-body ratio, wide-angle viewing, and either QHD or FHD resolution options with some of the best color calibrations available. The device also includes built-in AI features such as hands-free login thanks to its IR camera capable of facial recognition login and the smart assistant Cortana. It also has an intelligent thermal solution that manages the device’s cooling. The 13” model will have an Intel Core i5-10210U processor, while the 14” and 15” models will have an Intel Core i7-10510U processor. Prices start at 49,995 php.
The YOGA S740, with the 15” models available in two variants, on the other hand, has features that make it an entertainment powerhouse. For instance, it has a 4K VESA400 HDR display with 500nits and Dolby Atmos sound. Together with its NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card and either an Intel Core i7-9750H or i9-9980H processor, the laptop is able to handle the latest games and create multimedia content with ease. Crafted from sand-blasted premium aluminum, the ultra-sleek clamshell offers sophisticated style with thoughtful details including a webcam privacy shutter. The Intel Core i7-9750H variant is priced at 89,995 php, while the Intel Core i9-9980H variant is available for 119,995 php.
Lastly, the Yoga C940, with the 14’’ model available in two colors, incorporates features yet to be seen for a Lenovo device. A 2-in-1 convertible device, the Yoga C940 has a unique rotating sound bar with Dolby Atmos technology attached to its 360-degree hinge which allows for an uninterruptible audio experience when changing laptop modes. Complementing its impeccable audio is its VESA-Certified DisplayHDR that is 50% brighter than standard SDR displays. Equipped with an Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, the Yoga C940 has a smart Intelligent Cooling mode that optimizes battery life to enable it to save 15-20% more power from its 16-hr battery. It is available for 99,995 php.
Announced during IFA Berlin 2019, the 14-inch Yoga C940 and Yoga S740 were developed as part of Project Athena – a collaboration with Intel as part of the latter’s innovation program to help develop a new class of industry-leading laptops.
The IdeaPads S130, S145, and C340 are now available in Philippines, while the IdeaPads S340 and S540, and Yogas C640, C740 (14”), and S740 will arrive in local stores in October. The Yoga devices C740 (15”), C940, and S940 will be available in November in all major electronics stores. Buyers at the launch can get up to 4,000 php off the suggested retail price plus free Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 worth 6,995 php.
