Some Pokémon GO Game Details Released

Over the week we were given a bit more tidbits on what to expect from the upcoming AR game Pokémon Go. While the game is still under development and that we still don’t have an official gameplay video of the mobile game, we at least were given a bit more on what to expect from the game.

Here’s a breakdown of the released gameplay mechanics so far:

  1. Your phone will vibrate when a Pokémon is nearby
  2. You take aim on your smart phone and throw a poké ball to catch it
  3. There are areas in the map called PokéStops located at art installations, historical markers and monuments
  4. You can farm poké balls and other items at PokéStops
  5. The higher the trainer level the higher the chance of getting more powerful Pokémon,  better poké balls, higher chances of capturing Pokémon
  6. Some wild Pokémon can only be caught when you are nearby certain locations
  7. You have the chance to evolve a certain species of Pokémon that you’ve captured a couple of times
  8. You will be required to join one of the three teams at a certain point in gameplay
  9. After joining a team you can now assign Pokémon to empty Gym locations or to a location where a team member has placed one of his or her Pokémon
  10. These locations are located in the same way as PokéStops
  11. You can also obtain Pokémon eggs at PokéStops
  12. The Pokémon eggs will hatch after you have walked a certain distance
  13. You can only place 1 Pokémon per gym
  14. You’re encouraged to work with others on the team to build up a strong defense on the gym
  15. If a Gym is already claimed by another team, you can challenge that Gym using your own Pokémon.
  16. Using the Pokémon you’ve caught, engage in battle with the defending Pokémon at the Gym to claim control
  17. A wide variety of challenges are available that highlight many different categories, such as catching Pokémon and exploration
  18. By completing these challenges, you’ll unlock achievement medals that will appear in your player profile

So basically, there are tons of elements taken from Niantic Project’s currently existing AR game, Ingress that will have it’s version in Pokemon Go. I’m referring to the PokéStop system where you can farm materials and usable items for the game. This is similar to the farming system Ingress has with the portals where you can farm keys, turrets and other utility items that you can use for offense and defense.

So far I am pretty psyched up with the details being released for the game, and based on the Pokémon Go site the release date is still within this year. Are you psyched for the game? Do sound off in the comments!
